Blockchain: After the POC

Blockchain and associated distributed ledger technology is clearly a hot topic right now.   Many firms are engaging in projects to present "proof-of-concept" (POC) of the technologies.  Given the long standing interest of this blog in buy-side OMS, EMS, innovation, disruption, FIX and blockchain it's time for a proposal for the future...

Today a buy-side typically has IBOR, EDM, OMS and EMS. Why not swap out IBOR for blockchain?

If a buy-side can have a private blockchain with their custodian, why not have IBOR replaced by blockchain and OMS/EMS sat atop using FIX to communicate with brokers? It's a nice set of baby steps down the road of adoption of blockchain within an environment of trust where adoption is a matter of implementation.
